My Etsy on Facebook

So, I was walking up the basement stairs last night and missed a step and subsequently fell down them while dropping a huge box of vintage buttons. I skinned my knees and one elbow, and scraped up my toe pretty hard. My husband came to the rescue and helped me pick up all the buttons and then helped me hobble up the stairs while my dog watched helplessly. I bet he was watching and was thinking "MOM! I know you're in trouble, but I literally can do nothing to help! Is that bad of me?"

In other dog-related news, Nick and Leah (our friends from way back) are getting a puppy! He's adorable and they're rescuing him from a shelter (good people!!). Hopefully, they'll get him today or tomorrow and Louie will have a new buddy to play with.

Got a few new things up on the site:

No pants

Yesterday was so hot I sat on the couch in my underwear while I watched TV last night; it was too hot for pants, even shorts! I convinced Jeff to put the AC in our bedroom and also to let the dog sleep in there with us. He was so hot, he was panting up a storm. Poor little guy. Thankfully, today is a bit of a respite from the hot-as-a-crotch weather.

Added a couple more things to my etsy:

Treasure these gems!

I was just notified that I am featured in someone's treasury! That's a good thing for all you non-Etsians out there. It's basically another way of advertising.

Man oh Manischewitz

My dad used to say that all the time when I was little. I thought it was like, a special made-up Dad phrase (he has a substantial amount of them), but it turns out it was just a kosher wine slogan from the 80s. I still say it, though, and whenever someone says, "Oh, I remember that commercial," I get really happy. One time, in college, I even bought a bottle and drank it while watching "The Hebrew Hammer" on Comedy Central. The movie was awesome, the wine tasted gross.

In Etsy-related news, I now have made 8 sales and have 21 "hearts" (followers in blog speak). This is a remarkable improvement from my last shop, and considering that my little Etsy shop has only been open a month, I expect that I'll actually see a small profit from this shop.

New stuff is coming to the site soon: http://www.tinygalaxy.etsy.com/:

Wine Charms

OK, so I got my hands on some sweet little glass lampwork beads of varying designs and I have started making wine charms out of them. My first set is to be called "Junk Food: Who doesn't love it?" I have a bunch of other ridiculously cute beads for this wine charm project, including barnyard animals with wings, assorted chapeauxs, picnic themed beads, etc. I'll most likely set up a seperate section in my etsy shop for whimsical/silly stuff.

Also, do babies just fall out of Michelle Duggar now? I can't even imagine...

Hachi Machi! I made 2 sales!

I sold two of my treasures already and I have four people who "heart" me! I hope this momentum keeps up. I'm trying to add a few new pieces to my shop every day to keep people checking back often.

Today was super productive and I got some supplies for a slightly more whimsical line of treats that I'll be creating soon. Let's just say if you like snacks and junk food (mostly hot dogs!), you'll be 100% into what's coming next...

Spectral Deeeelight

I just added one of my favorite pairs of handmade earrings to Tiny Galaxy. They come in a variety of different prong settings and ear wires, but my favorites are the antique bronze settings with matching ear wire. I get scrillions of complements on them every time I wear them. They change color with every step I take. They're for real!

Hey, look at that! I have ONE person who hearts my shop already! What a start!

I've been trying to figure out what method to use for packaging my treasures when they sell. I have some plain white boxes, but those are boring. I also could wrap them gently in tissue paper and send them in a bubble mailer, but I feel like people prefer to open boxes. Any of the nice etsy shops I have made purchases from showcase their fabulous little customize boxes. I should figure out my logo with my graphic designer sister. She's the best and did all the designs for my recent wedding. Everyone commented on how classy the menus, place cards, programs, etc looked. Check her out: http://annareinhard.carbonmade.com/ I think I might have her make my banner, because right now, it's pretty lacking in razzmatazz...
